Pensacola residents are paying 1.7% less than the national average in bills, says study

Pensacola is Florida’s 88th most expensive city to live in, according to a recent study from doxo, which calculated household bills in the Sunshine State and compared them to the national average.

Pensacola residents, on average, pay $2,012 a month in bills, which doxo shows is about 46% of Pensacola’s average annual household income of $54,204 and about 1.7% less than the U.S. average ($2,046).

Doxo, which helps its customers stay on track of their bills by providing them with a single location to manage them, broke down the monthly expenses, showing exactly where that money is going.

Florida’s average mortgage was listed as $1,051 a month — the second highest bill on the list under rent — but home insurance was curiously missing from the list, which likely would have quickly bridged the $34 gap between Florida and the rest of the county as homeowners in the state now pay more than $6,000 a year on average for home insurance.

Here’s the breakdown.

Pensacola’s average monthly mortgage

Pensacola residents pay on average about $1,051 for their mortgage, which is $270 less than the national average.

Pensacola’s average monthly rent

Pensacolians pay on average about $1,070 per month for rent, which is $121 less than the national average.

Pensacola’s average monthly auto loans

The cost of the average auto loan in Pensacola is just a hair under the national average at $455 per month compared to $467.

Pensacola’s average monthly utility bills

Average monthly utility bills in Pensacola are nearly one-to-one with the national average. Pensacola residents pay $350 per month while the average U.S. citizen pays $351.

Pensacola’s average monthly auto insurance

Meanwhile, auto insurance bills are quite a bit higher. Pensacola residents pay $267 on average per month for auto insurance while the U.S. average is $207.

Pensacola’s average monthly health insurance

Health insurance in Pensacola is just under the U.S. average at $108 on average per month compared to $120.

Pensacola’s average monthly mobile phone bills

Pensacola residents pay slightly more on average for their mobile phone bills, paying an average of $124 per month compared to the national average of $119.

Pensacola’s average monthly cable and internet bills

Monthly cable and internet bills are also slightly higher in Pensacola as residents pay $131 on average compared to $118.

Pensacola’s average monthly life insurance bills

Life insurance in Pensacola and across the U.S. are identical, clocking in at $89 per month on average.

Pensacola’s average monthly alarm and security bills

Monthly alarm and security bills round out the list, with Pensacola residents paying on average $76 per month while the U.S. average sits at $84 per month.
